In October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I collaborated on an ebook designed to inform and empower women with practical knowledge about breast cancer prevention. This ebook was launched through Hyperlocal, a company with over 200 employees, and shared on professional platforms like LinkedIn, maximizing its reach and impact.
The Pink October campaign began in the early 1990s as a movement to promote breast cancer awareness, with the pink ribbon quickly becoming its global symbol. In Brazil, Pink October has since grown into a powerful initiative, uniting individuals and organizations in spreading crucial information on prevention and early detection. For this project, I aimed to reflect this meaningful heritage while infusing it with a modern, accessible feel.
Over the course of one month, while balancing my UX/UI design responsibilities, I collaborated closely with the design team, copywriters, and brand designers to bring this project to life. I researched significant symbols associated with breast cancer awareness and followed the Pink October color palette, paired with “Juntas,” the female collective brand palette, to create a consistent and impactful visual narrative. Each illustration was thoughtfully developed to be both engaging and sensitive, supporting the ebook’s message in an approachable, visually cohesive way.
Creating art with a purpose—especially one that promotes awareness and health—has been deeply fulfilling. Contributing illustrations to a cause as important as breast cancer awareness adds a meaningful dimension to my work, reminding me of the power of visuals in delivering impactful messages. If I had more time, I would have loved to design a dedicated cover illustration or even add custom page spreads to further enhance the ebook's visual appeal. Collaborating with talented writers throughout this project was also an incredible experience, as I translated their words into visuals, bringing the content to life in a way that resonates with readers.
